The short answer
Within one city or between nearby Eastern Province cities (Dammam, Khobar, Dhahran, Qatif), most apartments are done in one working day and small flats in roughly half a day. Large villas may need two days. Long-distance moves to Riyadh or Jeddah add road time, and delivery may be the next day. These are general estimates — we give you a specific time once we see photos and details.
Estimates by home type
| Home type | Same city (approx.) | What adds time |
|---|---|---|
| Studio or single room | A few hours | Upper floor without a lift |
| 2-bedroom flat | About half a day | Dismantling beds and wardrobes |
| 3–4 bedroom flat | One working day | Number of boxes and the kitchen |
| Duplex or mid-size villa | One to one and a half days | Internal stairs and the majlis |
| Large villa with annex | Usually two days | Annex, yard and kitchen units |
Compare by home size in small moves and large family moving.
What makes moving day longer
- Dismantling and reassembly: every bed and big wardrobe takes time twice. A kitchen that comes apart adds a lot — see kitchen cabinet dismantling.
- Packing not done: starting to pack on the day itself can double the time.
- Floors and lifts: a fourth floor walk-up is a different job from a ground floor — see moving without an elevator.
- Building rules: service-lift windows in residential towers and compound gates.
- Distance from truck to door: narrow lanes mean longer carries.
- Multiple drop-offs: each extra address adds unloading time.
How long do intercity moves take?
For a move from the Eastern Province to a distant city, loading day looks like a local move, then comes the drive, then unloading and reassembly. Riyadh deliveries are usually the same day or the next, depending on loading time; farther cities such as Jeddah, Madinah or Tabuk usually need a day or more on the road. See Dammam to Riyadh movers and Dammam to Jeddah movers for each route.
How to shorten your move
- Pack clothes and small items two days before, or book packing a day earlier.
- Declutter before the date.
- Book the lift and sort out truck parking.
- Label boxes by room.
- Send clear photos in advance so we send the right crew size.
Good to know: a bigger crew speeds up large homes, but adds little in a small flat with one lift. That is why we size the crew to the home rather than using a fixed number.
For step-by-step preparation, see the moving preparation checklist.
When should you book?
Time also includes preparation. On normal days, booking a few days ahead is usually enough, but month-end, the start of the school year, the days before Eid and lease-end dates are busy, so book earlier. Short on time? See same-day movers. Moving over the holidays? See moving during holidays and Eid.
Remember that handing back the old flat can take time after the furniture leaves: cleaning, small wall repairs after removing shelves or curtain rails, and a walk-through with the landlord. Plan at least a day before your lease ends.
