Why we do not list a fixed price
Many ads say “moving from just…”, and then the price changes on the day because the load is bigger, the floor is higher or pieces need dismantling. We prefer the opposite: understand your move first, then send a written quote. So you will not find numbers here, but you will find the factors behind the number, so you can compare offers and lower your cost.
The seven factors that set the cost
1. Actual volume
Not just the number of rooms but what is in them. A bedroom with a six-door wardrobe and a large dresser is different from one with a bed and a small wardrobe. The majlis, kitchen, maid’s room, store room and roof all add volume that is often forgotten on the phone.
2. Floors and lifts at both ends
Ground floor to ground floor is easiest. Every floor without a lift adds time and effort, and a small lift that large pieces do not fit means dismantling or carrying on the stairs. See moving without an elevator.
3. Distance and route type
A move within the same district differs from Dammam to Jubail, and both differ from a move to Riyadh or Jeddah. Long routes add road cost, travel time and the truck’s return. See intercity movers.
4. Packing level
Full wrapping and boxing of everything takes more material and time than protecting fragile items only. If you box small items yourself, the cost drops. See furniture packing.
5. Dismantling and reassembly
Bedrooms, large wardrobes and removable kitchens need a carpenter and time at both ends. The number of pieces to dismantle directly affects the price. See furniture assembly.
6. Site conditions
A narrow street the truck cannot enter, parking far from the building entrance, or a compound gate with waiting time all add time. Send a photo of the entrance and street with your request.
7. Timing
Month-end, holiday starts and lease-renewal seasons are busier. Flexibility of a day or two gives you better options. Phased moves or short-term storage have their own cost; see furniture storage.
Quick table: what raises and lowers the cost
| Factor | Raises the cost | Lowers the cost |
|---|---|---|
| Volume | Moving everything without sorting | Selling or discarding unused pieces |
| Floors | High floor without a lift at either end | Booking the lift in advance |
| Packing | Full packing and boxing by the movers | Boxing small items yourself |
| Assembly | Bedrooms, wardrobes and kitchen | Taking apart simple items yourself if possible |
| Site | Narrow street or gate waiting time | Preparing parking and permits beforehand |
| Timing | Month-end and holiday starts | Booking early and flexible dates |
How to get an accurate quote
- Photograph each room from two angles, including the majlis, kitchen, store room and roof.
- State the floor and lift at both homes.
- List the pieces that need dismantling and reassembly.
- Send both locations as map pins.
- Mention special items: antiques, gym equipment, a large bookcase, a display fridge.
The clearer the photos, the closer the written quote is to reality, and it only changes on the day if the load changes.
How to compare moving quotes
- Make sure the offer is written and states what is included: packing, assembly, crew size, truck type.
- Ask about possible extras: floors, waiting time, heavy items.
- A price far below others may mean less packing or fewer workers.
- Confirm the exact time and who is responsible on the day.
