Why big households need a different approach
The challenge is not only the number of items — it is the number of people who need their things on the first night. A typical large family home has a master bedroom, several children’s rooms with beds, wardrobes and study desks, men’s and women’s majlis rooms, a living area, a well-stocked kitchen, a maid’s or driver’s room, and often a storeroom or roof storage. Without a plan, the day ends with cartons nobody can identify.
If your home is a villa in a specific city, also see villa movers in Dammam or villa movers in Al Ahsa. This page focuses on organising a big household wherever it is.
Room labelling that actually works
- We agree a number or name for each room in the new home (Room 1 parents, Room 2 girls, Room 3 boys…).
- Every carton gets the room number and a short contents note.
- Screw and fitting bags are tied to their piece or marked with the room.
- A matching sign goes on each door in the new home so the crew knows where things go.
- “First night” cartons get a different mark and are loaded last so they come off first.
Moving-day priorities
| Priority | Includes | Why |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Children’s beds, mattresses and bedding | Everyone sleeps in the new home |
| 2 | Fridge and kitchen basics | Food and drinks on day one |
| 3 | Wardrobes, school and work clothes | Normal routine next morning |
| 4 | Majlis and living room | Takes time to arrange, can be finished later |
| 5 | Storeroom, roof and seasonal items | Can go in a second trip or into storage |
One day or in phases?
A big home within the same city can be moved in one long day with a large crew, but many families prefer two phases: first the non-daily items (storeroom, seasonal things, books, extra hosting items), then the main home. This keeps the main moving day shorter and calmer for the children. If the new home is not fully ready, part of the furniture can go into short-term storage.
Children’s rooms, majlis and kitchen
Children’s rooms: bunk beds and small wardrobes are dismantled and labelled; toys go into cartons named after each child. Majlis: floor seating, cushions and rugs are rolled and wrapped — see majlis furniture moving. Kitchen: in large homes it holds the most small and breakable items; see kitchen packing and moving.
What helps us before the day
- A full video walk-through including storeroom, roof and annex.
- A list of items that will not move (donate or sell) so we do not count them.
- A simple plan of the new home showing who takes which room.
- One family member as the single contact for the crew on moving day.
General preparation tips: moving preparation checklist.
What affects the price?
Actual volume, the number of beds and wardrobes to dismantle and reassemble, the number of majlis rooms, kitchen size, floors and lifts, one day versus phases, any temporary storage and the distance between homes. Send a video on WhatsApp for a detailed written quote.
