Why moving dates fill up during holidays
In the Eastern Province, moving requests cluster around the same periods most years:
- Start of the summer break: families move before the new school year, and many leases end around the same time.
- Before Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha: people want to be settled and host guests in the new home for Eid.
- Straight after Eid: those who postponed because of travel or family visits.
- Mid-year and short school breaks: a few days when many try to squeeze the move in.
- The end of every month: lease and salary timing, even outside holidays.
How far ahead to book
| Type of move | Suggested booking in peak periods |
|---|---|
| Apartment within the same city | One to two weeks ahead |
| Large villa or home with several majlis sets | Two weeks or more |
| Eastern Province to a distant city | As soon as you know the date |
| Move with temporary storage | As soon as your travel date is set |
These are general suggestions, not rules – nearer dates are sometimes available. If it is urgent, see same-day movers.
If you are travelling over the holiday
A common situation: the family is travelling, the current lease is ending, and the new home will only be ready after you return. Two practical options:
- Move before you travel and store: we pack and store the furniture, then deliver to the new home after you are back – see furniture storage.
- Move while you are away: authorise a trusted person to hand over and receive, with updates on WhatsApp – see moving while you are away.
Practical points for Eid days themselves
- Some shops close or shorten hours over Eid, so buy what the new home needs in advance.
- Building guards or compound management may be on leave – arrange lift booking and gate passes before Eid.
- Intercity roads get busy at the start and end of the holiday, so we time departures away from peak travel where possible.
- If you plan to host guests, prioritise setting up the majlis and bedrooms first.
Tip: include a “backup date” close to your preferred one when you message us. It makes finding a slot in busy weeks much easier.
Set priorities for the new home
During holidays the goal is usually to make the home liveable fast. We suggest unloading and assembling in this order: bedrooms, then the kitchen and essential appliances, then the majlis, and finally secondary cartons. For what to prepare beforehand, see our moving preparation checklist.
Book a holiday or pre-Eid move
Send both districts, home type, your preferred date and a backup date, and we will confirm the slot and price.
