The Real Problem: Two Dates That Do Not Match
Most people moving because a lease is ending face the same situation: the old lease ends on one date, the new home is ready on another, and there are days or weeks in between. Sometimes you end up paying an extra month's rent just because the new place is not ready; sometimes it is the opposite, and the new home is ready but you cannot find a moving slot before the lease ends.
This page helps you plan the move around the handover date. For a general home preparation list, see our moving preparation checklist.
Three Scenarios and a Fix for Each
| Situation | Practical solution |
|---|---|
| New home ready before the lease ends | Move a few days before the end date, leaving time to clean and fix any issues before handover |
| New home ready after the lease ends | Move the furniture into short-term storage before the lease ends, then deliver it once the new home is ready |
| Both on the same day | An early-morning loading slot and handover right after the truck leaves; needs booking in advance |
The earlier you tell us your lease end date, the easier it is to secure a suitable slot, especially at month end when lease-driven moves peak.
Two Weeks Before the Lease Ends
- Check your contract: what is required at handover? Must the flat be returned to its original condition (painting, filling holes)? What notice period applies? Terms vary from contract to contract.
- Book the move: send room photos and your preferred date so we can reserve it.
- Coordinate with the landlord or guard: lift booking and truck parking.
- Start decluttering: sell or donate what will not go to the new home now, instead of paying to move it.
Items We Remove That Matter at Handover
At the end of a lease, small things can delay handover or cause a dispute with the landlord. Tell us in advance if you want us to remove:
- Wall-mounted TV brackets: we take down the TV and bracket and leave the screw holes visible for you to deal with before handover.
- Curtains and curtain rods: removed and packed with your furniture.
- Wall-anchored wardrobes: anchors removed and the wardrobe dismantled.
- Shelves or small cabinets you installed yourself: removed if they are yours and not part of the flat.
If air conditioners or water heaters belong to you, they need a specialist technician to remove them before moving day; we then move them.
Moving Day and Handover Day
Plan the move a day or two before handover if you can. Once the furniture is out you will find things you could not see: dust behind wardrobes, floor marks, screws in the walls. That buffer lets you clean the flat or bring in a cleaner and hand it back calmly.
Before returning the keys, photograph the empty flat room by room, note the meter readings if your contract requires it or you need them to transfer accounts, and keep all the photos.
Flat to Flat in the Same City
Most end-of-lease moves stay within the same city, from one district to another in Dammam, Al Khobar, Qatif or Jubail. Each city has its own guide, such as local movers in Dammam and apartment movers in Al Khobar. If the lease is ending because you are relocating to another city, planning takes longer.
What an End-of-Lease Move Costs
The reason for moving does not change the price, but timing does: the last days of the month are the busiest and urgent slots can be limited. The main factors are furniture volume, dismantling and assembly, packing, floors and lifts, and any short-term storage. Send room photos and your lease end date on WhatsApp and we will reply with the price and available dates.
Book a move before your lease ends
Send your lease end date, current and new locations and number of rooms, and we will propose a date and a clear price.
