Living room furniture: what makes it different
The living room usually holds the largest pieces: a multi-seat sofa, a coffee table, side tables, a bookcase or TV unit, and perhaps a large rug. These pieces are big but fragile at the edges. Leather scratches, painted timber chips when rubbed and glass breaks under light pressure. So we plan this part of the move specifically instead of loading at random.
How we carry a sofa
- We measure the sofa, the flat door, the stairs and the lift before the date, so we know whether it passes whole or whether legs or back must come off.
- We wrap it in a dust cover and a shock-absorbing blanket and strap the ends without pressing on the foam.
- We carry it with enough hands, never dragging it, so the timber frame inside is not cracked.
- We place it upright or on its side as its shape allows, away from heavy appliances and sharp edges.
For more on sofas see sofa movers.
Tables, bookcases and TV units
A glass table travels upright between two boards with the corners protected. A timber table is wrapped and its legs are taken off where possible. A bookcase is emptied of books and heavy objects first, then moving shelves are removed and doors are taped shut. A TV unit is separated from its devices, cables are coiled and their positions noted. See book and library movers if you have a large collection.
We do not provide cranes or exterior lifts. A piece that will not pass is dismantled, or we agree an alternative before the date.
Arranging the load in the truck
We load so that pieces come off in the order you need: living room furniture on the side that unloads first, heavy boxes at the bottom, and glass and mirrors in a fixed place where they cannot shift. This saves time at unloading and reduces carrying furniture around inside the new home.
In Jubail: housing with entry rules
Some Jubail housing is a residential compound or belongs to an employer, and trucks may have set hours or need a permit. We do not know every home’s rules, so ask the housing office and tell us so we plan arrival to match. For moves between cities see movers from Dammam to Jubail and movers from Riyadh to Jubail.
Common mistakes with living room furniture
- Tying a sofa directly with rope over the leather, which leaves a permanent mark. We use padded straps and covers.
- Leaving loose drawers and shelves unsecured so they slide and scratch. We tape them lightly in place.
- Placing heavy objects on top of a sofa or glass table in the truck. We avoid that completely.
- Loading furniture while it is damp after wet cleaning, which can mould the foam. We advise drying it a day before wrapping.
After unloading
If a sofa is wrapped in plastic, remove it once you have decided where it goes, and let leather and foam breathe for a few hours before long use. Check the legs and joints that were removed and make sure they are tight. Tell us about any scratch the same day so we can follow up with you. To organise the rest of the home see unpacking after moving.
Cost and timing
Cost depends on the number of pieces, the floor and lift, assembly and distance. Send photos of the sofas and tables on WhatsApp 0573505121 and we identify what affects the price before booking, with no fixed number in advance.
