Flat-pack furniture needs an order of work before screws

One box can hold dozens of parts and similar-looking screws. The most common mistakes come not from weak hands but from a wrong sequence: a part fitted backwards so the doors will not open, or a back panel fixed too early so the hinges cannot be reached. So we read the instructions first and sort the parts before we begin, so we do not have to undo the work and repeat it.

• Clear the assembly area and leave space around the piece.
• Tell us the wall type if the furniture will be fixed to it.
• Decide exactly where the piece goes before we start, because moving an assembled wardrobe is harder than moving an empty space.

Fixing tall furniture to the wall

Tall wardrobes, bookcases and high shelves can tip if weight or a push is applied, especially in homes with children. If you wish, the wall suits it and we agree on it beforehand, the piece can be fixed to the wall instead of standing on the floor alone. If the wall is not suitable we tell you about the alternatives and do not fix into a wall that cannot hold. The decision is yours in the end.

If a part is missing or damaged

Sometimes a box opens to reveal a broken board or a missing bag of screws. We tell you immediately and do not continue with a part that is not fit for use, and we photograph the problem so you can go back to the store.
