Why Appliances Need Special Handling
A sofa or wardrobe can survive a light scuff, but a fridge moved the wrong way may stop working, a washing machine with an unsecured drum can damage its own internals, and a TV with something heavy on it can crack. That is why, on every household move, we treat appliances as a separate item: preparation by you before the date, then wrapping and securing by us during the move.
This is part of our apartment and villa moving service across the Eastern Province and on intercity routes such as Dammam to Riyadh. If you are moving because your lease is ending, plan appliance disconnection before handover day, and for other valuables see luxury furniture and antique movers. We can also move just one or two appliances if you send photos and both locations.
Fridges and Freezers
Before moving day
- Empty the fridge completely and switch it off well in advance, ideally the night before, so ice melts and the freezer dries out.
- Wipe out any water in the drip tray and leave the door slightly open to avoid odours.
- Remove glass shelves and drawers or secure them firmly; they are the parts most likely to break.
During the move
We keep the fridge upright wherever possible, wrap it in blankets and stretch film with the doors secured, and strap it in a stable spot in the truck with nothing loaded on top.
After arrival
Do not switch it on straight away. Leave it standing in place for some hours first; your manufacturer's manual gives the exact time for your model.
Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers
- Front-loading washers: many models come with transit bolts for moving. If you have them, fit them before the move; if not, we secure the door and body with wrapping and let you know.
- Draining: run a drain cycle before the date, disconnect the hoses and dry them.
- Disconnecting water and power: if this needs a plumber or technician, arrange it in advance; we move the machine once it is disconnected and place it in its new spot.
- Dishwashers: same principle: drain, dry and disconnect hoses before moving day.
TVs and Electronics
- The original TV box is the best protection; tell us if you kept it.
- Without it, we wrap the screen with face and corner protection and move it upright.
- Wall brackets: we take the TV off the bracket and can remove the bracket too if you ask, flagging any screw holes if you are handing back a rented flat.
- Computers and consoles: photograph the cable connections before unplugging and bag the cables with each device.
Cookers and Gas
Ovens and gas cookers must be disconnected from the gas supply before the move, ideally by a qualified person. We do not carry full gas cylinders with household goods; tell us in advance if you have any so we can agree a suitable arrangement. Small appliances such as microwaves, air fryers and blenders are wrapped and boxed with a fragile label.
Air Conditioners and Water Heaters
Removing and installing split air conditioners or water heaters needs an AC technician or a plumber, and is not part of our service. What we do is transport these units once they have been removed, wrapped and secured in the truck. We recommend booking the technician for the day before your move so everything is ready.
