Who this page is for
The Eastern Province is home to universities and colleges that draw students from across the Kingdom and abroad — including King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals in Dhahran, Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University in Dammam and King Faisal University in Al Ahsa, plus colleges and institutes in Jubail, Khobar and elsewhere. This page is for:
- New students bringing their belongings from their home city at the start of their studies.
- Students leaving university housing for a private or shared flat.
- Graduates moving their things back home or to the city of their first job.
- Parents arranging a move for their son or daughter from a distance.
For a full family home, see residential movers; for a few items unrelated to study, small moves fits better.
What is different about a student move
- Small but mixed loads: clothes, books and references, a computer and monitor, a mini fridge, a desk and chair, a bed or mattress, and simple kitchen items. Few pieces, but the variety needs organised packing.
- University timing: start and end of term and housing check-in and check-out dates are fixed, and demand peaks in the same week.
- Housing rules: many university housing areas have set entry and exit times and may require a vehicle permit — the student should confirm this in advance and tell us.
- Furnished rooms: if the housing is furnished, there is no need to move a bed and wardrobe — focus on personal items and devices.
Books, devices and papers
Books are heavy, so we use small, strong boxes that will not split. Computers and monitors are wrapped separately and kept upright; ideally the student carries the laptop and project files personally. For large collections see book and library movers, and for a mini fridge or washing machine see appliance movers.
For graduates: before moving everything home, think about what is worth it. Cheap second-hand furniture is often better sold or left to classmates than moved a long distance, while books, devices and personal items deserve good packing.
Shared flats for several students
When a group moves into one flat, each person has their own belongings. We ask every student to put their name on their boxes, and unload so each person's things go straight to their room. If the flat is on a high floor without an elevator, tell us in advance — see moving without an elevator.
Between home cities and the Eastern Province
We move within Dammam, Khobar, Dhahran, Al Ahsa and Jubail, and between the Eastern Province and any city in the Kingdom — for example Riyadh, Jeddah or Qassim. If the summer break falls between two housing contracts, belongings can wait in furniture storage until the new academic year.
Tips for a smooth student move
- Book early for the first and last weeks of term, when many students move at once.
- Photograph your university room on check-out in case of questions about its condition.
- Keep one bag with documents, ID, chargers and a few days of clothes with you.
- Label boxes by type — books, kitchen, clothes — so unpacking is quick.
