Moving a shop is not like moving a home or an office
In a home most of the load is furniture; in an office it is desks and files. In a shop most of the volume is stock and display pieces: metal or wooden shelving, a counter, glass showcases and, in groceries, display fridges. The challenge is twofold: protect the stock from breakage and loss, and keep closed days to a minimum, because every closed day is lost sales.
This page covers small and mid-sized shops and showrooms. If you are moving an admin office, see office movers in Dammam or office movers in Khobar.
What we move from a shop
| Item | How we handle it |
|---|---|
| Bolt-together metal shelving | Shelves and uprights dismantled, each unit tied together and numbered |
| Wooden units | Dismantled where possible, edges and surfaces wrapped |
| Counter and cashier desk | Fully wrapped with corner protection |
| Glass showcases | Glass shelves removed and wrapped separately, frame carried upright |
| Stock | Boxes numbered by shelf or section, with a box count |
| Display fridges | Emptied and unplugged before the move, carried upright |
We do not remove fixed external signage or work on electrics, lighting or central refrigeration; those need a specialist.
Stock: labelling matters more than wrapping
What usually delays reopening is not the move itself but finding stock afterwards. A simple method helps:
- Give every shelf in the old shop a number (Shelf 1, Shelf 2 and so on).
- Each box carries its shelf number and stock type.
- We count boxes with you before loading and after unloading.
- In the new shop each shelf's boxes go right next to its new position.
Very valuable or very small stock, such as accessories or phones, is best carried by you or kept under your direct supervision.
When to move
Most shops prefer to move after closing at night or on a planned closed day, so they can open at the new site as soon as possible. Malls usually have set delivery hours and service entrances; send us the mall management instructions and we will follow them.
A practical estimate by shop size
| Shop size | Typical load | Approximate time |
|---|---|---|
| Small shop | A few shelving units, a counter, limited stock | Usually one night |
| Mid-sized shop or grocery | Many shelves, display fridges, mixed stock | A long night or a closed day |
| Small showroom | Large display pieces and glass | May need two stages |
These figures are for illustration; we set the plan after seeing photos.
Notes by type of business
- Clothing and abaya shops: we prefer moving garments on hangers inside large garment bags rather than folding them into boxes, so they do not need ironing before display. Stands are dismantled and their parts tied together.
- Small groceries: food items are boxed by type and fridges moved once emptied; reduce stock in the days before the move.
- Homeware and gift shops: glassware and ceramics are wrapped piece by piece and usually take the longest to pack.
- Phone and electronics shops: valuable devices stay with you while we move showcases, shelving and the counter.
- Small furniture showrooms: display pieces are treated as new furniture, fully wrapped with corner guards; see luxury furniture movers for delicate items.
Within a city or between Eastern Province cities
We move shops within Dammam, Khobar, Qatif, Jubail, Al-Ahsa, Saihat and Dhahran, and between them. For a move between two cities we aim to load at closing time and unload in the morning before opening where possible. Related services: office movers in Saihat, appliance movers for fridges and machines, and furniture storage if the new shop is not ready.
