When this applies
- Moving to a bigger or smaller flat in the same building.
- Moving between two blocks in the same residential compound.
- Moving to a villa or flat on the same street or a few steps away.
- Moving part of the furniture to a second flat in the building, for example for a newly married son.
If the move is across town and needs a truck, see our local moving pages such as local movers in Dammam.
Do I need movers for a few meters?
Many people assume a same-building move can be done with help from friends. That works for a few items, but a full household needs:
- Dismantling and assembly of bedroom sets and wardrobes, which will not fit through doors and lifts assembled.
- Protection of the lift, walls and shared floors so you are not charged by building management for damage.
- Organization so furniture does not pile up in corridors and disturb neighbors.
- A limited time window if management sets lift hours for moves.
How we organize a move within one building
Usually no truck
When both flats are in the same building, we carry items directly by lift or stairs without loading a truck, saving loading and unloading time. In compounds with blocks far apart, a small vehicle may be needed.
Room by room
We move one room completely from the old flat to its place in the new one and reassemble it before moving on to the next. Furniture never piles up in one spot, and the new flat is ready to sleep in the same day.
The lift
We protect the lift walls and floor and book its use with you and building management where needed. Large items are dismantled if the lift is small; with no lift, see moving without an elevator. We do not use external hoists.
Up or down
Moving from a high floor down to a lower one is usually easier than the reverse, especially without a lift. Tell us both floors exactly, as it affects crew size and time. If the new flat is smaller, decide in advance what will not fit; extra items can go into temporary storage the same day.
Tip: get the keys to the new flat before moving day and check it; many delays happen because the new flat is still occupied or needs repairs.
Is it cheaper?
Usually yes, because road and truck-loading time shrinks or disappears. Dismantling, assembly and carrying between floors stay the same. The price depends on volume, both floors, the lift and assembly. See our moving cost guide, for small loads small moves, and if the old flat goes back to the landlord, end-of-lease moving.
