Who this page is for: owners who have sold a house, apartment or villa in the Eastern Province and need to empty it and hand it to the buyer. If you are a tenant whose lease is ending, see end-of-lease moving; if you are moving into a home you bought, also see moving into your first owned home.
How moving out after a sale differs
On an ordinary move, a day or two of delay is often fine. After a sale, the handover date is usually agreed with the buyer, who may have booked their own move into the house that same week. So we build the plan from that date backwards: when to take the inventory, when to pack, when to load, and how many days that leaves you to clean and hand over the keys.
What stays with the house and what leaves?
This is the question that causes the most disputes after a sale. Before moving day, agree in writing with the buyer on fixed items, or items they may assume are part of the house:
| Item | Why it needs agreement |
|---|---|
| Kitchen and fitted cabinets | Usually part of the house unless agreed otherwise |
| Air conditioners | Some buyers expect them to be included |
| Curtains, lights and chandeliers | Varies from deal to deal |
| Built-in wardrobes | Usually stay because they are part of the structure |
| Garden seating and shades | Usually movable, but worth listing to avoid disputes |
We move the free-standing furniture you point out to us. Removing and reinstalling fixed air conditioners or chandeliers is technical work for a qualified technician if you decide to take them.
Where is the furniture going?
To a new home that is ready
The simplest case: a direct move with dismantling, packing, loading and reassembly. See residential moves.
To temporary accommodation
Many sellers hand over before their next home is ready and stay with family or in a small flat for a while. We move the essentials there and store the rest. See furniture storage.
To another city
If the sale is part of relocating to another city, see intercity moves.
A chance to lighten the load
Selling a home is a good moment to let go of what you do not need. Old furniture that will not suit the next home, and things stored in the annex or on the roof for years, may be better sold or donated than moved and stored. Start sorting at least two weeks before the date and use our moving inventory list.
Tip: photograph the house room by room once it is empty and before handing over the keys, and keep the photos. It protects both you and the buyer from misunderstandings later.
If the buyer wants some of your furniture
Sometimes the buyer asks to buy certain pieces, such as a bedroom set, majlis seating or a dining table that suits the house. That shrinks your move but needs clarity: write a list of the items sold, mark them clearly on moving day so they are not loaded by mistake, and tell us in advance so we leave them out of the inventory and truck estimate.
Handover day
- We protect floors and walls while carrying items out so the house is handed over in good condition. See protecting floors and walls.
- We check annexes, the roof, the storeroom and the driver's room with you so nothing is left behind.
- We do not use an external hoist; large items on upper floors are dismantled to come down the stairs.
- Once the truck leaves, you still have time to clean, read the meters and hand over the keys.
