What makes this route different is not only its length. It ends with a climb into the mountains, some neighborhoods sit on slopes with tight access, and the weather at the destination can be very different from what you left behind on the coast.
The route: long haul, then a climb
By road, Dammam to Abha is roughly 1,200 to 1,400 km depending on the route taken and your exact start and end points. The final stretch climbs from flat terrain to a city sitting at over 2,000 meters above sea level, with bends and gradients along parts of the way. A load that rides fine on a straight highway can shift on repeated inclines and braking on descents, so we pack and load with that in mind.
How we load for mountain roads
- Heavy appliances and solid pieces go low and toward the front of the closed truck; light cartons go on top.
- Mirrors, glass tops and framed items stand upright, wrapped and braced.
- Straps and dividers hold each section in place, and gaps are filled with blankets or cartons so nothing slides.

Abha or Khamis Mushait? Pin it down early
Abha and Khamis Mushait are neighboring cities, and people new to the region often book one when they actually mean the other, or an area between the two. Please confirm the exact destination and send a location pin. It affects how we plan the unloading day.
Many moves on this route are job transfers, including government and military relocations, where the reporting date is fixed. If that is your situation, book as early as you can. If the housing in Asir is assigned by your employer, check entry hours and any gate or access procedures for the truck, and share them with us before the move.
Sloped streets and tight access
Some homes in Abha are built on hillsides or along narrow, steep streets. Not every neighborhood is like that, but it is far better to know in advance. Before we confirm, we ask for:
- A location pin for both homes.
- Photos of the street entrance and the building entrance, and where a truck could park.
- Floor number, whether there is an elevator, and its size; or the stair width if there is none.
If a full-size truck cannot get close to the door, we may need to shuttle items with a smaller vehicle from the nearest suitable parking spot. We tell you that before loading, not on arrival. Large items move through the stairs or the elevator only, which is why the elevator size matters when deciding whether a piece needs extra dismantling.
Humidity, fog and the coast-to-mountain temperature swing
Your furniture leaves a hot, humid coast and arrives in noticeably cooler air, and in Asir's rain and fog seasons, unloading can happen in wet conditions. Wood, electronics and soft furnishings feel that change the most.

A common situation on this route: your start date in Asir arrives before you receive the keys, or your lease in Dammam ends before you find the right place in Abha. This time the descent is the part that needs the most careful securing, and the climate change runs the other way, from mild mountain air into coastal heat and humidity. Access photos and a location pin matter just as much, because a tricky entrance in Abha now affects the loading day rather than the unloading day.

Pre-move checklist
- Send both location pins, entrance photos, room count and floor numbers on WhatsApp.
- Confirm the destination: Abha or Khamis Mushait, and the neighborhood if known.
- Switch off and dry the fridge at least a day ahead; drain the washing machine.
- Arrange a technician to disconnect AC units, gas or water connections, and to reconnect them in Asir; this is not part of our service.
- Keep documents, jewelry and medication with you, not on the truck.
