When you need to move rest house or chalet furniture
Rest houses (istirahat) and chalets are part of life for many families and friends in the Eastern Province — on the edges of Dammam and Khobar, in Qatif, Saihat and Al Ahsa, or along the coast. Moving their contents is different from moving a home:
- End of a rest house lease: you need to clear it and hand it back on a set date, moving the majlis and appliances home or to another rest house.
- Furnishing a new rest house or chalet: moving furniture from home or storage and setting it up.
- Replacing furniture: taking old seating home or to relatives and bringing new pieces in.
- Selling the rest house or farm: a full clear-out before handing over to the new owner.
For an ordinary home move, see residential movers.
What is different about rest house contents
Large majlis and floor seating
Rest houses usually have a wide majlis with long floor cushions, backrests, armrests and large carpets, or unusually long sofas. We roll and cover cushions and carpets against dust and number them by wall, so the majlis is laid out the same way again. More on our majlis furniture movers page.
Outdoor furniture
Outdoor tables and chairs, garden seating and free-standing shades. These pieces live in sun and humidity and their joints may be weak, so we check them before lifting and take apart what can be taken apart. We do not dismantle structures fixed in concrete or welded in place.
Kitchen and appliances
Large fridges and freezers, ovens and a lot of serving ware. Fridges must be emptied and dried a day ahead, and serving ware is packed in labelled boxes. See appliance movers.
Small bedrooms
Some rest houses and chalets have bedrooms with beds and wardrobes — we dismantle them and label fittings like any home.
Getting to the rest house
Many rest houses sit on side roads or in plots without well-known names, and some coastal chalets are reached by sandy tracks. So we need:
- An exact map pin, not just the plot name.
- A photo of the gate and its width — some gates cannot take a large truck.
- An agreed entry time with the owner or guard, especially on handover day.
Handing back a rented rest house? Photograph it before and after clearing, and agree with the owner which items belong to the property and which are yours, so the crew never moves the owner's pieces.
Inside the Eastern Province and beyond
We move between rest houses and homes in Dammam, Khobar, Dhahran, Qatif, Saihat, Jubail and Al Ahsa, and from the Eastern Province to any region of the Kingdom. If you need somewhere to keep rest house furniture until you find a new place, see furniture storage. Most rest houses are single-storey, so carrying is often easier than in apartments — the number of pieces and the distance from gate to majlis set the time needed.
Common mistakes when clearing a rest house
- Leaving it to the last day of the lease: any delay can mean paying for extra time — book a few days before the lease ends.
- Not unplugging appliances early: a wet fridge leaks onto cushions and carpets inside the truck.
- Mixing rest house and home items: label every box with its destination (home, storage, new rest house) before the crew arrives.
- Ignoring door sizes at the new place: some long sofas went into the rest house before the doors were fitted — measure the new doors or send us photos.
