Scope of this page: moving computers, monitors and gaming stations as part of a home move or on their own in the Eastern Province. For a whole home office see home office moving, and for large TVs and screens see TV and screen movers.
Why office and gaming equipment needs special handling
A computer is not a piece of furniture. It has small parts that are sensitive to shock, humidity and heat: the graphics card, drives, the motherboard and cables with fine connectors. Gaming rooms add special chairs and desks, curved monitors and audio gear. So we treat them as a fragile shipment inside your larger move.
We also ask you to back up your important data beforehand: good wrapping reduces risk but does not replace a backup.
Before dismantling: photograph the connections
The simplest way to save hours in the new place is a photo of the back of the machine and monitor before unplugging. We put coloured labels on cables and ports, and gather small cables and chargers in a bag marked with the device name. We keep original boxes where you have them because they are the best packaging.
For preparing the whole move read moving inventory checklist.
Wrapping: monitors, towers and desks
Monitors get a soft layer on the screen, then bubble wrap and hard cardboard, and travel upright, never flat. Towers are fixed so drives and fans do not shift and placed in padded boxes. Desks have their legs removed if needed, and glass tops get extra layers.
See furniture packing for packing materials.
Chairs and extra gear
Gaming chairs with metal frames and wheels are wrapped separately, and cushions and headrests detached where possible. Speakers, microphones and streaming equipment go into their boxes with each piece wrapped, and long cables are coiled without sharp bends.
If you have shelves or display boards for equipment, we dismantle them and number the parts.
Unloading and reconnecting
On arrival we place the desk first, then arrange the equipment on it from your photos so reconnection is easy. Please note we move and arrange equipment only; configuring settings and networks is your responsibility or a specialist you choose.
