Who this page is for
This page is for households moving between the Eastern Province and Al Kharj governorate: employees transferred to Al Kharj or to a nearby base or facility, students and staff at Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University, families moving back to a family home in Al Kharj or Al Dilam — and people moving the other way, from Al Kharj to Dammam, Khobar or Al Ahsa.
Al Kharj sits south-east of Riyadh, so many customers ask whether to book a Riyadh move instead. If your new home is inside Riyadh city, our Dammam to Riyadh movers page fits better. If it is in Al Kharj, Al Dilam or the villages around them, you are on the right page. Every other destination is on our intercity movers Saudi Arabia page.
Going further south to Al Aflaj, Hawtat Bani Tamim or Al Hariq? See Dammam to Al Aflaj movers.
How the Al Kharj route differs from a Riyadh move
The usual road is the Dammam–Riyadh highway, then south to Al Kharj — roughly 450 to 500 km depending on where you load in the Eastern Province. Most moves fit in one day, but a few practical points shape the plan:
- Avoiding Riyadh traffic: we time the departure so a loaded truck does not crawl through Riyadh at rush hour, and arrives at a sensible hour for unloading.
- Housing type: many homes in Al Kharj are villas, floors and stand-alone houses with majlis rooms, annexes and yards. Unloading is often on the ground or first floor, but there are more pieces than in a typical apartment.
- Outskirts and farms: some addresses in Al Dilam, farms or villages need a precise map pin and a note about the entrance, because side streets may not suit a large truck.
- Employer housing: moving into a compound or staff housing often needs an entry permit or a fixed time slot — tell us early so we schedule around it.
What we need before quoting
Clear details mean an accurate quote and a faster loading day. Send us on WhatsApp:
- Your pickup city and district, home type (apartment, floor, villa), floor number and whether there is an elevator.
- The district or village in Al Kharj, and whether the new home will be ready on arrival day.
- Photos of the rooms and large items: bedroom sets, wardrobes, sofas, majlis seating, large appliances.
- Which items need dismantling and reassembly, and any fragile pieces such as glass, mirrors, artwork or TVs.
- Whether part of the furniture needs short-term storage before or after the trip.
Practical tip: do not hand over the keys of your old home on the same day you load. Keep one buffer day — it protects you if the handover of the new home in Al Kharj slips.
Dismantling and packing for a medium-distance trip
Around 500 km is not extreme, but it is long enough for road vibration to damage loose items. We dismantle bedroom sets and large wardrobes, bag and label every screw and fitting, wrap wood in layers that stop rubbing, protect glass and mirrors with corner guards and heavy cardboard, and strap large appliances upright. See our furniture packing and furniture assembly pages for details, and the appliance movers page for how to empty and dry fridges and washing machines before the move.
The reverse route: Al Kharj to the Eastern Province
We work in both directions. If you are moving from Al Kharj to Dammam, Khobar or Al Ahsa, send the same details plus the type of home you are moving into. Many apartments in Dammam and Khobar are on high floors, so we check the elevator size and where the truck can stop before the day. If your new place is not ready yet, we can arrange furniture storage until handover.
