Scope of this page: estimating the number of boxes and how to pack them. For the packing service itself see [[/تغليف-العفش/]]. For home preparation see [[/تجهيز-البيت-قبل-نقل-العفش/]]. For the inventory template see [[/قائمة-جرد-العفش/]].
There is no single number for everyone
The number of boxes changes with the size of the home, the number of people and the amount of books, dishes and clothes. So we do not give a fixed figure but a rough way to estimate that you adjust after we see photos. The estimate here is a guide, not a commitment.
Start with the kitchen
The kitchen needs small, strong boxes because dishes are heavy and fragile. Estimate by drawers and shelves: roughly one box per full drawer or shelf, plus compartment boxes for glass. See [[/تغليف-ونقل-اغراض-المطبخ/]] for packing details.
Then clothes and bedding
Clothes are lighter, so larger boxes suit them. You can estimate a box per shelf or section of the wardrobe, plus bags for bedding. See [[/تغليف-ونقل-الملابس/]].
Books, papers and small appliances
Books are very heavy: fill only small boxes with them so the bottom does not give way. Small appliances need their original boxes if you have them, or protective padding.
How to pack and number
- Heavy items in small boxes, light items in big boxes.
- Fill gaps with paper or cloth to stop movement.
- Write the room and contents on two sides.
- Seal with strong tape and do not stack beyond what a box can bear.
- Keep an “essentials” box to open first.
