Packing in Saihat: what is different?
Saihat is a coastal town between Dammam and Qatif, with older neighbourhoods of traditional houses on narrow streets and newer schemes of villas and apartment buildings. Many residents move within Saihat or to neighbouring Dammam or Qatif, and some to distant cities. Materials and when we use them
- Moving blankets: for wood, wardrobes and tables; they absorb knocks and stop scratches, and go on before stretch film.
- Bubble wrap: for screens, glass, frames and electronics.
- Reinforced cartons: small for heavy things like books, large for light things like pillows; kitchen cartons with dividers.
- Stretch film: holds drawers and doors shut and keeps dust out — never directly on damp wood.
- Corner guards: for mirrors, glass tables and sofa edges.

Coastal humidity
Being close to the sea, Saihat is humid most of the year. Furniture wrapped damp in plastic and left for days can suffer: MDF may swell and fabric may mark. So we start with blankets or cardboard, ask you to dry the fridge and washer a day ahead, and recommend unwrapping sofas and wood soon after arrival. Kitchen and appliances
The kitchen needs more cartons than any other room. Plates and cups are wrapped one by one and stood upright, pots nest with paper between them, and spices and liquids go into sealed bags in a separate carton. Full method in our kitchen packing guide. Near or far: how much packing do you need?
Within Saihat or to Dammam and Qatif is a short drive, so good protection for fragile items and basic wrapping for the rest is usually enough and keeps the cost down. Packing part of it yourself
Some families prefer to pack clothes and personal items themselves and leave furniture and fragile items to us. That works well and saves time if you:
- Use small cartons for heavy items and large ones for light items.
- Tape cartons twice underneath and fill them so the top does not cave in when stacked.
- Write the destination room on each carton, and "fragile" where needed.
- Keep gold, documents and medicines in a bag that stays with you.
- Leave mirrors, screens and glass to us.
