An apartment usually has less furniture than a villa, but every item has to travel through the building entrance, the stairs or elevator and the corridor before it reaches the truck. That is why our first questions are about the building, not the number of rooms.

Floor level and elevators

Elevator size and stair width

Truck parking

The distance between the building door and where the truck can stop affects the whole job. Narrow side streets or rows of residents' cars can push the truck further away, so it helps to ask neighbours or the building guard to keep the entrance clear on moving day.

Building rules

Some buildings limit when the elevator can be used for moving, ask that the landlord or guard be informed in advance, or prefer no work during prayer and rest times. Check before you confirm a date so the job does not stop halfway.

• Tell us about built-in or custom-made wardrobes; some cannot be moved without damage.
• Decide which room is which in the new apartment to speed up reassembly.

Kitchens and appliances

Fridges, washing machines and cookers travel upright and strapped inside the truck, wrapped in moving blankets and stretch film. Before moving day:

• Empty and unplug the fridge and freezer early enough for them to dry.
• Disconnect the washing machine and drain any remaining water.
• If gas lines, AC units or water connections need disconnecting, arrange a technician or electrician; that work is outside our service.
